Oracle DBASQL & PL/SQL AWSData Engineering LinuxAI & ML

Professional summary

Experienced and certified Oracle Database consultant with over 15 years in IT, specialising in Oracle Database administration, SQL and PL/SQL development. I have worked across Oracle Database versions from 8i through to 23ai, and I care about two things in roughly equal measure: making databases fast, and making the people who run them confident.

Alongside consulting I have spent much of my career training — in classrooms, in corporate programmes and now at university level. The teaching is not a side activity; it is what most of the consulting work turns into. A tuned database that nobody on the team understands is a problem waiting to come back.

What I teach

My training work covers six areas, all taught the same way — concepts first, then hands-on, then a real case study.

🗃️DatabaseSQL, NoSQL, warehouses, tuning
🔧Data EngineeringPipelines, ETL, orchestration
☁️CloudAWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
🤖Artificial IntelligenceLLMs, agents, AI tooling
📈Machine LearningModels, training, deployment
🐧LinuxCommands, scripting, DevOps
🎯Career guidanceJobs, interviews, roadmaps
📦Project case studiesEnd-to-end implementations
The teaching principle behind this whole site

Nothing here is taught as a list of facts to memorise. Every module explains why a thing works the way it does, then shows you the command or the console setting that proves it. That is why Module 1 spends time on the OSI model before Module 6 ever mentions a VPC — one explains the other.

About this course and this website

The AWS Foundation programme runs to 66 hours across eleven modules. It deliberately starts a long way from AWS — with networking, IP addressing and Linux — because those three subjects are what make the AWS services make sense rather than merely memorisable.

ModulesGround coveredWhy it comes first
1 – 2Networking, the OSI model, IP addressing, subnettingA VPC is a network. Without this, Module 6 is memorisation.
3Linux fundamentalsEvery EC2 instance you will meet runs it.
4 – 5Cloud concepts, billing, global infrastructure, IAMHow AWS is shaped, priced and secured.
6 – 7VPC, DynamoDB, Redshift, CloudFront, Route 53Building and choosing the right service.
8 – 10Well-Architected, CloudWatch, SNS, security servicesRunning it properly once it exists.
11Project, labs, interview preparationTurning all of it into something you can show.

This website is itself the course project: plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, hosted as a static website on Amazon S3. There is no server and no database anywhere in it — the quizzes and the final test run entirely in your browser. That constraint is the lesson.
